RESUMO
A restauração
do Mercado Paulistano e a sua transformação em atrativo turístico trouxe os
impactos negativos que um planejamento estratégico poderia ter evitado. O Ciclo
de Vida do Turismo desenvolvido por Butler (1980) é uma ferramenta usada para
determinar em qual fase está o espaço turístico possibilitando a maximização dos
impactos positivos e minimização dos negativos. O principal objetivo desse
trabalho foi verificar em qual fase do Ciclo de Vida do Turismo está o Mercado Paulistano.
A metodologia empregada foi a revisão bibliográfica de outros pesquisadores e
pesquisa documental em jornais e instituições. Também foi realizado um estudo
de campo para atualização da dinâmica do objeto de estudo. Constatou-se que o Mercado Paulistano se
encontra na sua fase de Consolidação e portando requer ações para que seja
evitada a fase de estagnação e possível declínio

ABSTRACT
The restoration of the Paulistano Market and its
transformation into a tourist attraction brought the negative impacts that
strategic planning could have avoided. The Tourism Life Cycle developed by
Butler (1980) is a tool used to determine in which stage the tourism space is
made possible to maximize the positive impacts and minimize the negatives. The
main objective of this work is to verify in which phase of the Tourism Life
Cycle is the Paulistano Market. The methodology used was the bibliographical
review of other researchers and documentary research in newspapers and
institutions. A field study was also carried out to update the dynamics of the
study object. It was found that the Paulistano Market is in its Consolidation
phase and therefore requires actions to avoid the stagnation and possible decline
phase
