O PEQUIZEIRO COMO ELEMENTO DA PAISAGEM CULTURAL E DAS TRADIÇÕES ALIMENTARES SETELAGOANAS

Resumo
O presente trabalho é uma das produções realizadas pelo Núcleo de Estudos em Geografia Agrária, Agricultura Familiar e Cultura Camponesa: Terra e Sociedade¹ do Instituto de Geociências/ UFMG. Discute-se no artigo, questões históricas relacionadas à paisagem na Geografia e as vertentes de pesquisa mais recentes desenvolvidas nesse campo do Conhecimento. Discute-se, ainda, a presença e a importância do pequizeiro na composição da paisagem cultural setelagoana e o uso do pequi nas tradições alimentares locais, incluindo a diversidade de possibilidades para seu uso na culinária. A metodologia desenvolvida incluiu a realização de entrevistas com os vendedores de pequi da cidade, a pesquisa das receitas mais comuns que utilizam o pequi na região, bem como o registro de fotografias de paisagens que apresentam o pequizeiro no ambiente urbano.

Abstract
The present work is one of the productions carried out by the Center of Studies in Agrarian Geography, Family Agricultureand Peasants’ Culture: Land and Society¹, based inMinas Gerais Federal University’s Geoscienses Institute (Brazil). Historical processes concerning the evolution of the landscape as a geographical category and the most recent research trends in this field of knowledgeare at issue there. The relevance of the Pequi tree in the local cultural landscape and the use of the pequi fruit in food traditions (including the diversity of possibilities for using it in the cooking), are focused on research. Methodological tools adopted includesinterviews with the local pequi sellers, the search of the most common recipes that use the pequi in the region, as well as the registration of photographs of landscapes showing the Pequi tree in the urban environment.
